Software and Integration Engineer

Job Description:

Utility Associates is looking for a software and database developer to join our engineering team. This position is an exciting opportunity for candidates who are highly motivated to succeed, fast learners, passionate about solving problems, and can perform as team players. Must be able to work collaboratively with a team or independently. The ideal candidate must be able to work efficiently on multiple projects and deliver high quality work in a timely manner.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Integrating disparate CAD (Computer Aided Dispatch) systems with our Enterprise Cloud system

  • Designing, implementing, and maintaining Database system applications that are often high-volume and low-latency, required for mission-critical systems 

  • Designing, implementing, and maintaining Java applications that are often high-volume and low-latency, required for mission-critical systems

  • Delivering high availability and performance

  • Contributing in all phases of the development lifecycle

  • Writing well-designed, efficient, and testable code

  • Conducting software and database analysis, programming, testing, and debugging

  • Ensuring designs comply with specifications

  • Preparing and producing releases of software components

  • Supporting continuous improvement by investigating alternative technologies

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field

  • Hands-on software and database development experience is required, particularly in MS SQL Server, MySQL, and Java. Experience can include internships, group projects, or personal projects where you wrote code. Please include details about this experience in your resume.

  • Must exercise excellent critical thinking, written & verbal communication skills, and display a positive disposition towards learning new skills

  • Must be able to understand and take creative direction

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Ability to work on multiple projects with tight deadlines

  • Ability and willingness to communicate and work with customers to implement system solutions
